SM Ralli Mikkeli will be held on January 17, 2026, whatever the weather
There is less than a month until the start of the Finnish Rally Championship season, and a large part of Finland is expecting snow, including South Savo. The Mikkelin Urheiluautoilijat headquarters is monitoring the weather forecast very closely.
The long-term weather forecast shows freezing temperatures and moderate amounts of snow. The SM Ralli Mikkeli will be held on January 17, says competition director Jarno Neuvonen.
– We have the arrangements ready, in principle the competition could be held immediately. The rally will be held at the planned time, even though we are missing winter, says Neuvonen.
According to Neuvonen, temperatures of about five degrees below zero are enough to organize the rally so that the road surfaces freeze sufficiently. The competition organizer also has a plan for a situation where winter does not come at all.
